Prepping for Your First RV Trip

Your first RV trip is an exciting adventure, but it can be tough knowing how to go about preparing for it. The following tips can help make the RV trip planning process much easier!

Read the Owner’s Manual

Your ownership manual is an invaluable source of information and holds recommendations directly from the manufacturer itself. By reading it over, you can gain valuable insight into how to take better care of your camper, as well as how to get the most out of it. There may be ways to utilize your RV during your vacation that you didn’t think of–and now you can take advantage of them and enjoy them!

Do a Practice Trip

You can also try doing a practice run before your official first trip. Set your camper up at home or a nearby campground and practice basic camping tasks like cooking a meal and emptying the water tanks. This is a great way to catch any items you might forget to pack and learn what you need to practice before your trip.

Use a Packing List

Use a list-making app or grab a notebook to make lists for everyone so that you’ve all got your phone chargers, toothbrushes, medications and hiking boots. Check things off as they’re loaded onto the RV. Be sure you’ve got the essentials on board like linens, cookware and cleaning supplies, but also check on your first-aid kit and other emergency items to make sure your fire extinguishers are up-to-date and that your flashlight has fresh batteries.
